Tentang Anak launches ecommerce feature to implement its mission to serve parents with the best education and products, where their new parenting book series “Emotions” will also be available to follow-up the best-seller success of their first book series
Jakarta, 21 July 2022 – Tentang Anak, the Indonesian digital-first parenting ecosystem and trusted parenting partner from pregnancy to early child development, announces the launch of ecommerce on its parenting app for Indonesian children. The Tentang Anak app, officially launched in Feburary 2022, has seen its user growth reach 20x since launch, becoming top 3 on Play Store for the parenting category and top 4 on the App Store in the education category.
This announcement was made through their launch event on National Children’s Day 2022, where the company invited Indonesian parents to commemorate the special day as a reminder of children’s rights, in line with the country’s Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Children Protection (PPPA).
This ecommerce launch builds upon Tentang Anak’s mission of building a one-stop parenting solution to accompany the journey of 30 million Indonesian parents in the various aspects of parenting from health education to psychology to meeting their children’s daily needs. This mission began with the launch of their app back in February this year, which primarily featured educational content and easier access to a range of parenting and childcare experts. With ecommerce services now available as well, products across various categories curated by Tentang Anak’s experts that meet health and safety standards for children can be purchased by parents through the app, consolidating the entire journey for parents to research and shop for their children’s needs in one platform.
As Tentang Anak co-founder, Tokopedia alumnus, and ecommerce veteran Garri Juanda explains, “Since Tentang Anak was established in 2020, Tentang Anak has reached more than 28 million parents through education on various platforms. This has inspired us to continue listening to the needs of Indonesian parents and children, by launching ecommerce on our app.
With ecommerce now available on the Tentang Anak app, parents are able to shop easier and worry-free in order to fulfill their children’s needs because the products presented are the result of curation from Tentang Anak’s experts and have met health as well as safety standards for children. On top of that, products that can be found through our platform are coming from various categories including the essentials for newborns, healthcare, weaning food, and even for travel with children. Shopping on our platform is even easier because parents are able to shop in one delivery service, therefore hopefully the time that was previously spent on research and shopping for children’s needs can be allocated to quality time with family.”

This ecommerce launch is able to leverage the trust and education foundation Tentang Anak had built through the launch of their app from earlier this year. Yinglan Tan, Founding Managing Partner of Tentang Anak early investor Insignia Ventures says, “Having invested in several digital-first commerce or commerce enabler companies in Indonesia, we have seen how digitalization is rapidly changing various aspects of Indonesian life and producing new verticalized platforms suited to tackling pain points in these specific aspects. Such is the case for Tentang Anak, with their unique approach to becoming the trusted companion for Indonesian parents in raising children. This ecommerce launch has been part of their vision from day one, and up to this point they have been laying the foundations for this launch through their popular, science-based app and growing community. As early partners of Mesty, Garri, and their team, we look forward to Tentang Anak’s latest launch becoming the stepping stone to even greater impact for parenting in Indonesia.”

One of the highlighted products available for purchase on their app is Tentang Anak’s new parenting book series, titled “Emotions”, which follows up on their best-selling first book series. This new book series was also launched in Tentang Anak’s National Children’s Day Event.
